About the Note 9 S Pen
- The Note 9 was the first Galaxy to put a Bluetooth remote button in the pen, and it is the reason every Ultra pen since has had one.
- Two versions are sold here. The factory OEM version has no Bluetooth and costs less. Both write identically.
- Advanced tip sensing, so pressure and accuracy match the pen that came with the phone.
- Four colours including the copper that matched the Note 9 launch handset.
Note 9 S Pen not working, broken or not pairing?
The Note 9 pen was the first of its kind, and the first generation of anything ages the least gracefully. Charge failure is the signature fault here.
Note 9 S Pen remote button does nothing
First check which version you bought. The non Bluetooth option sold here never had a radio and the button is inert by design. If yours did once work, the charge store has most likely failed.
Check the version firstNote 9 S Pen pairs then disconnects within a minute
The supercapacitor in the Note 9 pen is small even when new, and this generation is now seven years old. Losing the connection a minute after leaving the slot is the classic end of life symptom for this exact pen.
New pen neededNote 9 S Pen writes but has no remote functions
That is normal and expected for the non Bluetooth version, which is the cheaper of the two Note 9 S Pen options. Writing runs off the digitiser and needs no power at all.
Nothing to fixNote 9 S Pen tip has gone soft or flat
Seven years of writing does that. There is no Note 9 tip pack stocked, so ask what fits before you buy a whole pen at A$59.95.

Little to go wrong other than the tip sensor on this design. Test on another Note 9. Failing on both means it is finished.
